Hayley Montgomery Earns Honors Scholarships from Ohio Wesleyan University

2011 Mar 11

Hayley Montgomery of New Albany, OH, has earned two academic scholarships from Ohio Wesleyan University and been accepted into the university's honors program after participating in Ohio Wesleyan's Schubert Honors Scholarships competition. Montgomery is a senior at New Albany High School.

High school seniors were invited to compete in Ohio Wesleyan's annual Schubert competition this winter based on their outstanding academic performance, extracurricular involvement, and potential for success in college studies at the university. Montgomery was awarded both a Schubert Honors Scholarship and an Ohio Wesleyan Founder's Scholarship based on the rigorous competition.

"Ohio Wesleyan's Schubert Honors Scholars are exemplary students," said Lee Harrell, assistant vice president of admission and financial aid. "Their impressive personal, academic, and talent-based achievements distinguish them as individuals with exceptional potential for success here. OWU provides many opportunities for them to receive 'theory-to-practice' experiences, as well as off-campus study and community-service learning."

All recipients of the Schubert Scholarships also have been accepted into Ohio Wesleyan's prestigious Leland F. and Helen Schubert Honors Program. Ohio Wesleyan honors students are eligible for possible induction into the Phi Beta Kappa academic honor society. Only 8 percent of America's most distinguished colleges and universities have Phi Beta Kappa chapters.
