Quenton Stokes-Brown of Columbia Awarded Theory-to-Practice Grant from Ohio Wesleyan University

Quenton Stokes-Brown of Columbia, SC, has been awarded a Theory-to-Practice Grant from Ohio Wesleyan University. The grants support research, internships, service, and cultural immersion opportunities throughout the world.

The Theory-to-Practice Grant awarded to Stokes-Brown supports a project titled "The Berimbau and Capoeira Angola: Examining the Globalization of Angolan Cultural Heritage," which will be conducted in Salvador, Brazil.

Since launching the Theory-to-Practice Grant program in 2009, Ohio Wesleyan has awarded nearly $1.5 million in university-funded grants supporting projects in 60 countries.

Ohio Wesleyan's Theory-to-Practice Grant program is competitive, with submissions evaluated by the university's Committee on Teaching, Learning, and Cross-Cultural Programming and awarded by the administration.

The grants are part of The OWU Connection, Ohio Wesleyan's signature program to help students to connect academic theories and concepts learned in the classroom with meaningful, real-world experiences that prepare them for success and leadership in today's global society.
