Raissa Kanku Honored at Ohio Wesleyan's KuShinda 2018 Celebration

Raissa Kanku of Honeydew, Gauteng, Democratic Republic of Congo, was honored April 25 at Ohio Wesleyan University's KuShinda 2018 celebration, an event sponsored each year by the OWU Office of Multicultural Student Affairs.

KuShinda (Swahili for "to be victorious") recognizes outstanding student leadership, academic achievement, and community impact.

Kanku was honored with the Pete and Barbara Smith Outstanding Student Leadership Award.

Graduating seniors honored at the event also received commencement stoles, bright pieces of cloth worn scarf-like at graduation to symbolize their Ohio Wesleyan journeys.
