Ohio Wesleyan University's Office of Multicultural Student Affairs held its KuShinda 2018 celebration April 25 to recognize outstanding OWU student leadership, academic achievement, and community impact during the 2017-2018 academic year. Ohio Wesleyan University inducted new members into its Eta Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at a campus ceremony May 11. The new inductees join a national honor society that counts 17 U.S. presidents, 40 Supreme Court justices, and more than 140 Nobel laureates among its members. Nationwide, only 10 percent of all U.S. colleges and universities have Phi Beta Kappa chapters, and each of the 286 chapters selects only 10 percent of their graduates to join annually through a highly selective, merit-based invitation process. Congratuations to all of the inductees!

Ohio Wesleyan University honored its outstanding 2017-2018 student-athletes at the 14th annual Dale J. Bruce Scholar-Athlete Awards Dinner. The celebration, held April 19, recognized Battling Bishop athletes from Ohio Wesleyan's 23 varsity sports for their academic and athletic successes. Congratulations, Bishops!

Nearly 40 Ohio Wesleyan University students traveled to five sites in the United States and Mexico as part of OWU's 2018 spring break Interfaith Service week. During their trips, the teams were guided by the program's "essential pillars" of restorative justice, transformative reflection, substantive community, and conscientious leadership. The students and their faculty-staff advisers traveled to Houston and New Orleans to repair hurricane-damaged homes; to the Lakota Nation in South Dakota to help rebuild Lakota-Anglo relationships and support Native American youth; to Philadelphia to explore multiple faith traditions; and to Mexico to examine the economics of social responsibility and sustainable practices. Congratulations to all involved for a successful week of life-changing learning and service!

More than 30 Ohio Wesleyan University students shared the results of their summer science research projects and internships Sept. 18 at the university's 25th annual Patricia Belt Conrades Summer Science Research Symposium. The students presented information and answered questions about their work, which was documented in posters outlining each project. Congratulations, presenters!

Ohio Wesleyan University's Department of Economics and Woltemade Center for Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship have selected 15 students as 2017-2018 Economics Management Fellows. Congratulations to OWU's newest fellows!

Ohio Wesleyan University is excited to welcome its Class of 2021, whose members join OWU as the university celebrates its 175th anniversary. Fall semester classes begin at Ohio Wesleyan on Aug. 23, 2017.

Ohio Wesleyan University held its 173rd commencement ceremony on May 13, 2017. The OWU Class of 2017 included 383 spring, summer, and fall graduates, with students representing 20 countries from Afghanistan to Venezuela. Nearly 60 Ohio Wesleyan University students spent spring break participating on one of OWU's seven Interfaith Service teams. Chad Johns, director of the Interfaith Service program, said the student-created teams incorporate "intentional service and reflection with people of diverse faiths, philosophies, and perspectives [to] deepen our understanding of ourselves and each other, even as we work to improve the world around us."
